Parasol Mushroom (Macrolepiota procera)

Macrolepiota procera, the parasol mushroom is impressive in size and the perfect place for fairies and gnomes to shelter during spring showers. Needle felted of Maori wool in carefully blended colors that are true to the original. There are many intricate details in this piece. Scales were created from vintage handkerchief snippets, hand painted and held in place by bits of needle felted wool. The gills on the underside were carefully needle felted of tiny strands of roving. Attached to a base needle-felted to look like a section of the forest floor. Art piece. Signed by artist.
