More Magic in the Garden

More Magic in the Garden

On Friday we were delighted to see the thunderstorms clear in time for our fairy and gnome party. After reading "Through the Fairy Door" by Gabby Downey, (Author), Giulia Tomai (Illustrator), Lars van de Goor (Photographer), we explored fairy doors around Three Pines Studio and made a tea cup garden with fresh lavender.

When I extended an invitation to visit to see the lavender there was a chorus of "Let's fly to the garden!" and off they all flew!

The lavender is fragrant and beautiful, as are many of the flowers in the garden. It's a wonderful time to meander through the garden. The bird's nest fungus we spotted last week looks even more like very tiny nests now that the spores are exposed. If you visit Three Pines, follow the path to the garden. Look for the beautiful diamond shaped colored glass.

Look down to find a fairy in blue and green who is watching over the tiny "nests". Bird's nest fungus is often found growing on wood chips so it may grow where you live, too. It is easy to identify  because each fungus looks like a tiny nest with a few eggs.

There was a moment of concern that a wish could not come true because specks of glitter would not blow off a finger. I suggested sprinkling fairy dust while the wish was made. I counted to three, then heard a clear, heartfelt wish for a unicorn. In true Three Pines magic, this wish came true on plates of tiny cupcakes and unicorn gummies. The cupcakes from Birch Tree Bakery & Cafe were so delicious that even a chipmunk was spotted enjoying a few bites after the guests had left!

Fairy parties will continue on Friday afternoons for the remaining weeks in July and the first week of August. For next Friday's craft, we will be decorating lanterns and bookmarks with dried flower petals that I pressed in the spring. Please visit www.threepinesstudio.com for details and to register.

Wishing you wonder and joy that comes from seeing the world through the eyes of a child.
